The Ted K. Center provides educational, social and recreational services to youth ages 2 to 18 who reside in the Plattsburgh Housing Authority.
The Ted K. Center was founded in the late 1970s when instances of vandalism and crime within Plattsburgh Housing Authority (PHA) family developments occurred at an alarming rate while the number of unsupervised youth also increased. The community center program focuses on education and constructive leisure time activities for youth.
Since the center was established, the PHA Board of Commissioners, administration and local leaders have recognized the center’s contribution to the community while remaining consistently committed to the provision and expansion of youth services within the Plattsburgh Housing Authority.
Neighborhood youth and families have grown to depend on “The Center” to provide a diverse array of services related to education, counseling, employment, recreation and the arts. The Ted K. Center provides youth with positive opportunities for growth and improves the quality of life in the Plattsburgh Housing Authority and the greater community at large. The PHA and Ted K. Center have developed and maintained collaborations with a wide variety of community partners.
Currently the Ted K. Center provides educational, social and recreational services to youth ages 2 to 18 who reside in the Plattsburgh Housing Authority. The program offers an early childhood program, an after-school program and a summer program.
